Pipeline
A pipeline usually has to be kept up by hand. sumwerk’s is fed by what already happens:
- a call booked through Calendly or cal.com;
- a sign-up in your app;
- a trial;
- a customer reaching a plan limit;
- a payment in Stripe.
You keep the conversations; sumwerk keeps the board up to date.
The four pipelines
- New business. A booked call, a sign-up or a trial opens a deal. The first payment wins it, with the MRR it really brought. A trial that ends unpaid loses it.
- Expansion. A paying customer who reaches a limit of their plan appears here. Once they pay more, the deal is won with the MRR it added.
- Renewals. Yearly subscriptions appear 60 days before they renew. Once renewed, the deal is won. A scheduled cancellation loses it.
- Retention. A customer with a risk signal appears here: a failed payment, a scheduled downgrade, one of your own at-risk rules. When the signal clears, the deal counts as saved. If the customer churns, it is lost.
The first time you open Pipeline, your leads and trials of the last 90 days are already on the board.
Working with it
- Drag a card to another stage, or use the stage buttons on the deal’s page.
- Close a deal as lost with a reason. The reasons tell you later why deals were lost.
- Value is per month, in your reporting currency. The board adds up the open value and a forecast that weighs every stage by its probability.
- Add a deal by hand for what the product does not see coming: a referral, an enterprise conversation, an upsell. Use the Pipeline page or the customer’s page.
Stages
Under Pipeline → Stages you can:
- rename and reorder the stages, and add your own;
- give each open stage a probability for the forecast;
- choose what moves a deal into a stage by itself: a call booked, a trial, the first payment, a limit reached, a cancellation, a risk signal and more.
A deal only moves forward on its own, except into won or lost.
API
GET /api/v1/pipelines lists the pipelines and their stages. /api/v1/deals lists, opens, moves and closes deals. A key of yours keeps a deal from being created twice. Details: API reference.
