Last quarter's number does not move without telling you
The most common complaint about subscription analytics is that numbers change in retrospect and nobody knows why. sumwerk closes months, writes down every later change with its reason, and checks itself against Stripe after every sync.

A month closes, and stays closed
Five days after a month ends (you choose how many) its figures are frozen, together with what every paying customer paid at month end. The month page says when it was closed, and the API tells your own reporting which months are final, so nothing has to be read again every night.
A later change is a restatement, not a surprise
Late data from Stripe, two customers that turn out to be one, a changed setting: some things do change the past. sumwerk then records a restatement with the date, the reason, the figures before and after, and the customers behind the difference, and only then shows the new figures. The overview points at it for two weeks, and the month carries a mark.

Finance hears about it
The account's owners get a mail with the months, the figures and the reason. If a program should hear about it too, sumwerk sends a signed message to an address of yours, so a data warehouse reads exactly the months that changed.
Checked against Stripe's own arithmetic
After every recalculation sumwerk compares what it values each subscription at with what Stripe's latest regular invoice bills for the same items, per month, to the cent. The overview shows a small green mark when everything matches, a difference is listed with the subscription and the invoice, and what cannot be compared today is counted as exactly that.
Questions
- Can I change how long a month stays open?
- Yes, between 1 and 60 days, under Account, General.
- What happens when I change the reporting currency or the time zone?
- Every month gets other figures without anything having happened to a customer. That is recorded as one restatement for all months, and the closed months are taken again.
- Are discounts part of the Stripe check?
- No. An invoice shows discounts per line only in part, so both sides are compared before discounts and tax. Prices, quantities, currencies and billing intervals are what the check catches.
Goes well with
- MRR you can provesumwerk computes MRR from the state of each Stripe subscription, not from prorated invoices, and links every movement to the Stripe invoice or event behind it.
- Churn and retentionCustomer churn, gross and net MRR churn for every month, and net and gross revenue retention over twelve months, with the definitions next to the numbers.
- APIPull MRR, movements and customers out of sumwerk, push leads, trials, product usage, notes and tasks in, manage automations and receive signed webhooks.
